In this issue of the Dutch magazine Bouwwereld, attention is paid to “Open Building”. Of course, the building technology of Top-Up is discussed. But author Daniel Capelleveen also adresses the legal obstacles to Open Building. This is often forgotten, but very important. We can design and build architecturally flexible buildings, but we must of course also be allowed to use the flexible options. That is why things such as zoning, land lease contracts and mortgages must be properly aligned for flexible use in the future.
