Ulf Meyer points out the general misconception of fire safety issues of timber highrises in the title of his article “Wolkenkratzer aus Holz sind Landmarken, keine Brandfackeln”, “Timber highrises are landmarks, not torches”. The new cross laminated timber techniques are actually safer than concrete when overdimensioned to allow a charing fire restant layer to be build up in case of fire. To illustrate the architectural quality and the rise of timber landmarks in various countries he showcases our project Patch22 !
