Architect Tom Frantzen from the Netherlands says that there is no longer a strong timber tradition for structural purposes, but his recently completed seven-storey Patch 22 project overlooking a canal in a former industrial area in the north of Amsterdam (which he designed as well as and developed) defies that trend with a support structure that is almost entirely made of CLT pine and laminated pine.
